Mærsk Inspirer sail-away to the Yme-field

Press Release

The Mærsk Inspirer Mobile Offshore Drilling and Production Unit left the Aker Solution’s yard in Egersund on the 29th of December 2020 following modifications work at the yard and was successfully installed at the Yme field in the Southern North Sea on the 31st of December 2020.

“This is a key milestone for all involved parties, and it is good to see the rig in location at the field,” says Manager for the Yme New Development Project, Adolfo Azcarraga and continues: “It has been imperative that we delivered the Mærsk Inspirer scope of work in a safe and reliable manner to take the rig offshore. Maersk Drilling and their subcontractor Aker Solutions have demonstrated a good safety performance throughout the onshore part of the project.”

Key project deliveries executed in Egersund

“Two out of the four main project deliveries have been executed in Egersund. The first was the fabrication of a new wellhead module which was shipped offshore from Egersund in September 2019.The second was the delivery of the Mærsk Inspirer Mobile Offshore Drilling and Production Unit which has been modified and prepared for drilling and production on the Yme field,” says Cecilie Hettervik Project Leader of the Mærsk Inspirer modifications project.

With the installation of the Maersk Inspirer in the Yme field, the project will now enter the offshore hook-up and commissioning phase. Planned first oil from the Yme field is 2H 2021.
